Ayetian promises fans a performance of passion at Soundcheck
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall artiste Ayetian is promising fans a performance with passion and more at this Thursday’s staging of Soundcheck at Dubwise Café on Lady Musgrave Road in Kingston.
The high-riding artiste who last year topped charts with Weh Yo Deh Pon, Balance (One Gyal Everyday) and Tip (remix), is gearing up for his first intimate performance at the event, which is sponsored by Wray and Nephew White Rum.
“Soundcheck in Kingston means a lot to me because it’s home, and performing at home always brings a different kind of energy and responsibility. I love what I do, and when this opportunity came up, it was an easy yes. Fans can expect passion, authenticity, and a performance that truly reflects who Ayetian is as an artiste today,” Ayetian told Observer Online exclusively on Monday.
He shared what goes into the preparation process for an event like Soundcheck, where he will be backed by the Dub Squad Band.
“I take performances like Soundcheck very personal because it’s not just about performing hits, it’s about creating an experience. The preparation is different this time,” he explained.
“I’m intentionally selecting songs I don’t normally perform, along with the fan favourites, to take the audience on a real musical journey from where I started to where I am now in my career,” the artiste said.
“I began writing poems before I even recorded music, so this show gives me the perfect opportunity to tap into that raw, expressive side of myself and connect with fans on a deeper level.”
Prior to Ayetian’s performance, patrons will be entertained musically by Carlos A-Team and Reiizzer, who will spin the musical hits.
Organiser of Soundcheck Carleen Samuels spoke about the partnership with Wray and Nephew White Rum.
“The partnership reflects a natural cultural alignment. Soundcheck is known for platforming emerging and established Jamaican talent in an intimate live setting and similarly, Wray & Nephew has long supported music and cultural experiences across the island,” she said, adding “Together, the collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to authentic Jamaican creativity.”
Samuels also noted that the partnership has been ongoing since 2024.
“Wray and Nephew has supported Soundcheck since its inception in 2024 and the partnership has continued into our now 2026 stagings. Their early involvement helped shape the platform’s foundation and the collaboration will continue to evolve as Soundcheck grows”.
Ayetian recently collaborated with Billboard-charting artiste Moliy on the song What I Like, which also features rapper Tyga. The song was produced by Rvssian.
The official video, which was released a month ago, has racked up more than four million views on YouTube.
