Gas station attendant charged with assault after woman set alight
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Thirty-year-old gas station attendant Collate Swaby has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm following the attack that resulted in the burning of Westmoreland resident Dacia Forrester on Thursday.

Observer Online understands that both women, who are from Whithorn, Westmoreland, got into an altercation after Forrester went to the gas station where Swaby was employed on Thursday afternoon.
An argument reportedly developed between the two, and Forrester was asked to leave the gas station by the manager.
The 42-year-old allegedly returned with her sister, and the argument escalated, with Swaby telling Forrester to go home.
The accused reportedly threatened to douse and light Forrester aflame before making good on the threat.
It is reported that a struggle ensued before Swaby used a lighter to ignite Forrester, resulting in burns to 50 per cent of her body. Swaby was also injured with wounds to the eye and face.
Police had indicated Monday afternoon that three women were facing charges in relation to the incident.
The Burn Foundation of Jamaica has embarked on a drive to raise US$55,000 for Forrester to get her care in the United States (US) however, it says it has encountered difficulty following videos and comments shared online alleging that Forrester was an aggressor in the incident.
The foundation has condemned the actions.
