From Beijing to Moscow, Indonesia, New York, and San Francisco’s Chinatown, communities around the globe are currently celebrating Chinese New Year.
In Jamaica, celebrations began on Sunday, February 15, at The Pinnacle, Montego Bay, with the Chinese community of Jamaica hosting a grand affair that saw a cameo from Prime Minister Andrew Holness, a scintillating set by reggae-rock soul singer Tessanne Chin, and a spectacular fireworks display to wrap the evening.
This year’s Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, began on Tuesday, February 17, marking the start of the lunar calendar and the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse.
