ISSA Rural Area junior football semis on the line
The semi-finalists in the ISSA Rural Area junior football competitions will be decided today with the playing of the final set of quarter-final games in the Burger King Under-14 and Mighty Malt Under-16.
Cornwall College leads Group 1 in both competitions, while William Knibb Memorial lead Group 2 in the Under-14 and Clarendon College leads Group 2 in the Under-16, all on four points after Monday’s second round of matches.
Today Cornwall College and Rusea’s High will meet for the second time in the Under-14 after Cornwall College had won their second-round game 3-1 in Montego Bay.
Rusea’s High have lost both games in the quarter-finals, while Cornwall College are coming off a big 4-0 win over Belair High in Montego Bay and will start favourites today.
Glenmuir High are also on four points, one more than Belair High, with the winner of this game certain to make progress to the semis.
In Group 2, William Knibb Memorial leads Garvey Maceo on goal-difference, with Manchester High on three points in third place and Titchfield High yet to get a point.
William Knibb are away to Manchester High where a point would see the Trelawny school into the semi-final and a point would also be good enough for Garvey Maceo against Titchfield High.
In the Under-16, Glenmuir High will hope to rebound from their 3-0 loss at Cornwall College when they host Munro College, who must also win if they are to have any hopes of a place in the next round.
Cornwall College will be home to Old Harbour who are coming off a 2-1 win over Munro College.
Clarendon College should advance with at least a point against Central High and will leave Rusea’s High and Manchester High to battle for the other spot when they meet in Mandeville.
