Kingston farmer charged following alleged breach of Firearms Act
KINGSTON, Jamaica– A Kingston farmer has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition following an incident on Woodstock main road, Buff Bay, Portland, on Friday, February 20.
He has been identified as 32-year-old Owen Gordon, a farmer of Penwood Crescent, Kingston 11.
Reports from the Port Antonio police are that about 11:15 pm, a team of lawmen was conducting an operation along the Woodstock main road in the parish, when a black Toyota Voxy motor vehicle was signalled to stop, and the driver complied.
A search of the vehicle and its occupants was carried out, during which a 9mm pistol with a magazine affixed containing five 9mm cartridges was found in a black cross bag around Gordon’s neck.
He was taken into custody and was later charged after a question and answer session.
His court date is being arranged.
