Minister Marion Hall to feature in Praise On The Green Gospel Extravaganza
Praise and worship with a contemporary edge comes to the city of Miramar on February 27 with the third Praise On The Green Gospel Extravaganza.
The event, which takes place at the Miramar Town Center, features Minister Marion Hall, Otis Kemp and Reverend Mark Brown.
Delroy Escoffrey, who has been involved with Praise On The Green since its inception, said patrons can expect “a big gospel party”.
“We will have Reverend Mark Brown along with a choir, the first time a choir will be present. Otis Kemp and Minister Hall are back for the second time,” he told Observer Online.
Praise On The Green is one of the main events on South Florida’s annual Reggae Month calendar, which is primarily promoted by the Inner Circle band. Since 2024, it has been held in Miramar, which has a large Jamaican community.
Escoffrey says “the event is growing stronger each year”, largely due to the presence of artistes like Minister Hall and Kemp who blend dancehall and hip hop with traditional gospel, to spread the word.
The former Lady Saw, Minister Hall, ruled dancehall for decades before a highly-publicised conversion to Christianity 10 years ago.
Kemp, who has Bahamian heritage, was born in Florida. While gospel is his main influence, he is also inspired by hip hop acts like Flo Rida and Rick Ross.
