Burgerman takes Market Bag challenge as prices continue to fall at ‘Curry’
The Edge 105 FM radio personality Burgerman steps out of the studio and into the hustle and bustle of Coronation Market for a high-stakes shop-off in the season finale of the Jamaica Observer’s Market Bag with host Carlysia Ramdeen.
The mission? Stretch every dollar to see who gets the best value for the buck.
Confident and competitive Burgerman promises fireworks, but Ramdeen isn’t backing down.
Catch all the action when Market Bag goes live this Friday at 6:30 pm on YouTube and across all Jamaica Observer social media platforms.
In the meantime, prices at Coronation Market, popularly known as Curry, continue to trend downwards this week, with tomatoes selling for as low as $30 per pound, while cabbage and pumpkin were fetching just $100.
According to Corey Bailey, data collection officer with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, it’s a good time to shop at the market.
“The prices are looking very good for the most part. We see where some products have really gone down…Some other prices have stayed steady; we’re talking about sweet potato, dasheen, for example, still around $300/$350. So overall it’s a good time to come to the market,” Bailey said.
