Reel 2 Reel’s I Like To Move it featuring Trinidadian The Mad Stuntman is platinum in the UK
The 1990s saw the rise of techno and house music and one of the songs that defined that decade was I Like To Move it by dance act Reel 2 Reel featuring the vocals of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad born deejay The Mad Stuntman.
The song was a major hit across Europe, topping charts in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Zimbabwe, while racking up top 10 positions in Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Iceland, Lithuania, Scotland, Spain and in Switzerland.
It also reached #89 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and #8 on Billboard’s Dance Music Club Play chart, while securing a #5 peak on the UK Singles chart.
I Like To Move it was on Friday certified platinum in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry for sales and streaming equivalent exceeding 600,000 units.
The Mad Stuntman also deejayed on Reel 2 Reel’s follow up chart hits Can You Feel It? and Conway. Both songs made the UK Singles chart as well as the Billboard Dance chart.
The Mad Stuntman, real name Mark Quashie, is now 60 years old. He resides in New York.
I Like to Move It was previously certified gold in Australia, France, Germany and in the Netherlands.
In New Zealand, it has earned platinum status.
