Cavalier and Dunbeholden move into JPL top six with wins
Defending champions Cavalier and Dunbeholden FC moved into the top six of the Jamaica Premier League on Sunday as none of the top four teams managed to score a win.
Both Cavalier and Dunbeholden FC scored 1-0 wins over Racing United and Chapelton Maroons respectively and took over fifth and sixth places.
Montego Bay United drew 1-1 with Arnett Gardens and moved to 51 points; Mount Pleasant FA moved into second place past Racing United after a 1-1 draw against Portmore United as two points separate second from fourth.
Mt Pleasant and Racing United are tied on 45 points with Portmore United on 43 points, 10 more than fifth-placed Cavalier. Dunbeholden are on 32 points, on goal-difference over Chapelton.
Christopher Ainsworth’s first half penalty was enough for Cavalier to hand Racing only their second loss of the season and avenge their 4-1 first round loss.
Dunbeholden scored back-to-back wins for the first time since mid-January, edging Chapelton 1-0 at Turners Oval, Clive Wedderburn scoring the game’s only goal in the 33rd minute. It was back-to-back losses for Chapelton who fell two places to seventh place.
