Firearm, ammo seized in Port Maria; person of interest among four detained
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The St Mary police on Monday reportedly seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition after intercepting a motor vehicle in the Port Maria area, and arrested four occupants, including a man listed as a person of interest in a murder in the Corporate Area.
According to the police, the operation was carried out based on intelligence.
The police said the vehicle was taken to the Port Maria Police Station where the Caribbean Search Centre conducted a comprehensive search in the presence of the occupants.
During the search, a Taurus G2 9mm pistol along with 12 rounds of 9mm cartridges were reportedly found.
The St Mary Police Division said investigations are ongoing and reiterated its commitment to disrupting criminal activity, removing illegal firearms from the streets, and ensuring the safety and security of residents.
