She’s That Girl dominates feature race
She’s That Girl didn’t disappoint on Sunday, cruising to a 6½ -length win in the $1.25-million Omar Walker Trophy feature at Caymanas Park.
The Steven Todd-conditioned five-year-old chestnut mare, who was sent off as the 4-5 favourite, was piloted to an impressive victory by in-form apprentice jockey Tajay Suckoo in the Restricted Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five and a half furlongs (1,100m) by 5 lengths.
She’s That Girl broke off well, settled into second behind Strike Smart (Emelio McLean), and then took the lead going into the half-mile (800m) turn. From there, she sprinted clear of rivals, winning easily in 1:06.4 ahead of Cookie Day N Night (Raddesh Roman) in second place and Huntsman (Reyan Lewis) in third.
Trainer Ryan Darby was not to be left out of the celebration party as he saddled three winners on the nine-race card.
Darby’s winners were Eazy Peazy (Demar Williams) in the fourth race, Sudden Flight (Roshaune Lewis) in the sixth race, and All Together (Paul Francis) in the seventh race. Sudden Flight gave apprentice Lewis his first career win.
Racing continues on Saturday.
