Woman allegedly slapped after slighting man in bar
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A split-second confrontation inside a Flanker bar has escalated into a criminal matter now before the court.
Prosecutors allege that a single slap during a tense exchange left a woman injured — her face swollen, her nose bleeding, and two teeth broken — and has since landed a St James man before Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton.
O’Brian Streete appeared in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday charged with assault occasioning bodily harm against a female resident of his community. He is represented by attorney Dalton Reid.
The matter has been referred to restorative justice, and Streete’s bail was extended until March 25, when the case is scheduled to be mentioned again.
According to allegations presented in court, the incident occurred on December 20, 2025, in Flanker, St James. The complainant had been at a nearby ball field before entering a bar in the area, where she reportedly encountered Streete.
It is alleged that she “cut her eyes” at him — a gesture said to have sparked the confrontation.
Streete allegedly approached the woman and slapped her on the left side of her face. The impact reportedly caused her to fall to the ground, striking the back of her head. Men inside the establishment assisted her to her feet, the court was told.
Prosecutors say she later realised the extent of her injuries, reported the matter to police, and Streete was subsequently arrested and charged.
