Cashier fined for ganja seizure at Kingston casino
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A cashier was fined $4,000 or sentenced to 30 days imprisonment following the seizure of ganja at a casino in Kingston on February 15, 2026.
Victoria Newman was charged with possession of ganja and dealing in ganja after law enforcement officers found 6.96 ounces of the drug in separate areas of the business establishment.
Newman and a bartender were reportedly present at the time of the seizure, but Newman took responsibility for the ganja.
Newman pleaded guilty to possession of ganja when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday. However, she pleaded not guilty to dealing in ganja. The Crown subsequently withdrew the charges against her for dealing.
The bartender was also charged with possession of ganja, but the charge was withdrawn by the court.
