Chester Creek housing development launched in Portmore

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WIHCON) officially launched its newest residential development, Chester Creek, on Tuesday at Westchester Drive in Portmore, marking another milestone in the company’s long-standing commitment to building quality communities across Jamaica.

The launch ceremony, held at the development site in Westchester, Portmore, brought together government leaders, private sector partners and prospective homeowners.

The feature address was delivered by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who highlighted the importance of housing development and strong public-private partnerships in expanding access to homeownership for Jamaicans.

Chester Creek represents the next phase of WIHCON’s legacy of community development in Portmore, offering thoughtfully designed homes for first-time buyers and investors seeking quality housing options in one of Jamaica’s fastest-growing municipalities.

The development will feature 326 units across multiple phases, each with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, providing room to expand and modern amenities designed to support comfortable family living and long-term value.

“Chester Creek reflects WIHCON’s continued commitment to building communities that Jamaican families are proud to call home,” said Marvin Campbell, chief executive officer of WIHCON. “From the design of the homes to the overall layout of the development, every element has been carefully considered to ensure quality, comfort and long-term value for residents.”

Peter Melhado, chairman of WIHCON, noted the project’s importance within the company’s six-decade history of nation-building.

“WIHCON’s journey has been made possible through strong and enduring partnerships with our suppliers, architects, contractors, financiers and local municipal councils who have worked alongside us to deliver quality developments across the island. Chester Creek continues that tradition by creating opportunities for families to achieve the dream of homeownership in a well-planned and vibrant environment,” he said.

Joe Matalon, chairman of ICD Group Holdings, reflected on the longstanding connection between the developers and Portmore.

“Our family and the ICD Group have been part of Portmore’s development since the early days of Independence City in the 1960s. Chester Creek represents the continuation of that legacy of building communities that support Jamaica’s growth and prosperity,” Matalon said.
