New Sportage from Kia
Kia Jamaica launched the facelifted 2026 Kia Sportage sport utility vehicle at their Oxford Road showroom on Friday, February 27.
“The Kia Sportage, over the years, has probably been Kia’s most successful model, and as such it is a staple. It’s the model that we here at Kia Jamaica believe will continue to drive volumes here locally,” Damien Kerr told the Jamaica Observer’s Auto magazine.
The 2026 Kia Sportage returns with a new look, inspired by the electric models in the brand. That begins with a commanding new front fascia featuring a more vertical headlight and LED lighting all around for a signature visual appearance, especially at night. The grille, front and rear bumpers, join a modern, sculpted silhouette that Kia says presents a confident road presence from every angle. There’s enough to connect with the brand, yet enough for the Sportage to feel new.
“I think it looks awesome,” he said.
There are two trim levels — Executive and X-Line. The interior has received a few key updates in styling, like the air vents, and materials to enhance the driving experience and handle the new technology integrated. The new elements begin with the steering wheel. Behind that sits a new, revised curved binnacle that houses both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment touchscreen. The Executive makes do with an 8-inch display, while the X-Line has a larger 12-inch touchscreen.
Kerr added: “This new facelift that we have is crucial to Kia’s success.”
Driving the 2026 Kia Sportage are two engines, a 2-litre petrol and a 2-litre turbodiesel. All-wheel drive is exclusive to the X-Line, as well as a host of higher-level convenience features like leather, heated and ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof, and a lane assist function.
“The Sportage continues to be a staple model and is extremely important to Kia’s success because this is the model that has always been the driver of the new technology and direction of Kia,” he continued.
Pricing remains close to the original and competitive with class rivals. However, Kerr recognised the changing dynamics in the local market and explained that Kia Jamaica will respond with products to maintain its current status amongst the public.
“I believe this is the best-looking SUV that Kia has today. The price point across the two trims is almost the same as it was for the model, which makes it a really good proposition as the features have improved so much, making the Kia Sportage value for your money,” he said.
