Parsard pleased with We Jammin’s season debut despite loss
We Jammin (Bern Identity – Jammin), the champion two-year-old from last season, made a solid season debut in a Restricted Stakes race on Sunday, March 1, 2026, finishing a respectable 8 ½ lengths in second place behind winner American Aviator over 7 furlongs (1,400m).
We Jammin, ridden by Omar Walker, chased American Aviator from start to finish.
Trainer Peter-John Parsard was pleased with We Jammin’s performance.
“He did very, very well. American Aviator is essentially an A Class horse in terms of his ability, but he has some issues, obviously. We were very surprised when we saw him in the race, and so we knew it would be a challenge,” Parsard told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Parsard explained that the race didn’t go according to plan, with We Jammin having to do his own dirty work and American Aviator proving to be a tough opponent.
“I thought that him [American Aviator] with how the race set up, with We Jammin having to do his own dirty work, it really was a challenge as there weren’t anybody going for him. He was a bit of a lone speed and with American Aviator, he has shown to be dangerous when he is lonely on the lead,” Parsard explained.
Despite the loss, Parsard is optimistic about We Jammin’s prospects.
“I am happy with the run from We Jammin. He came out of the race great, he came out tired as expected after the little layoff, but we have a lot of time to get him ready for the Classics, and I am sure he will take a forward step from this race,” he stated.
We Jammin’s next outing will be in the Prince Consort Stakes in April.
