Real Madrid look to bounce back against Celta Vigo in La Liga action

Real Madrid look to bounce back against Celta Vigo in La Liga action

Two French giants will meet for the third time in less than a month, when PSG and Monaco go head-to-head today, Friday, March 6 in France. Then later today Real Madrid will aim to bounce from their shock defeat to Getafe when they visit Celta Vigo in Spain.

Event # 1 – FRA – PSG vs MONACO – 2:45 PM

Both PSG and Monacowill go head-to-head for the third time in less than a month when they meet on Friday at the Parc des Princess. Indeed, PSG enter this game having defeated Le Havre to stretch their lead atop the standing to four points, after previous leaders, Lens, slipped up and only managed a draw away from home.Ahead of this crucial match, before their midweek Champions League against Chelsea, PSG have won nine of their previous matches without a single defeat on home soil and have won their last three matches on the trot without conceding a goal, while scoring eleven times. Worryingly for the visiting Monaco side, not since August 2023 have PSG failed to score at home in the league. Furthermore, they are unbeaten in six-straight home matches against their upcoming opponents, Monaco.

Monaco, on the other hand, appears to have rediscovered form at the right time, having won three consecutive matches in the league on the trot. Indeed, Monaco will be aiming to win consecutive away matches for the first time in three months, following their 3-2 away win over previous leaders Lens, on their last away trip two weeks ago, coming from two goals down in that game. Suddenly, the fans can start dreaming of a place in Europe for next season as Monaco is now just three points below Rennes, in seventh place, heading into this weekend’s set of games. However, Monaco’s fans might temper their expectations of getting a result away at PSG as two of Monaco’s three away matches this season against teams currently in the top five ended in Monaco’s defeats, while they failed to score in two of those games.

Key Stats

• PSG has won seven-straight games in the league and won 10 of the 11 games played at home, drawing the other.

• Monaco’slast away win at PSG was in 2021 and have won just one of the last five matches against PSG.

• Both sides – Last season PSG won both games against Monaco (4-1 at home and 4-2 away).

The betting tip: PSG win.

Event # 2 LaLiga – Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid – 3:00 PM

It’s all or nothing for Real Madrid when they visit Celta Vigo for an intriguing Friday afternoon clash, having won just one of their last three domestic matches and find themselves trailing rivals Barcelona by four points. With that said, Celta Vigo will welcome Real Madrid aiming to inflict more misery on the “Whites” as in their most recent clash, Celta defeated them 2-0. Furthermore, Celta Vigo has been impressive in their last three matches, beating Mallorca, Girona, both in La Liga and also defeating PAOK in the Europa League. Indeed, Celta Vigo has won four of their previous six matches at home, losing twice, scoring 13 goals, while conceding a mere four times.

Real Madrid travels to Celta Vigo seeking to restore confidence and their title credentials after suffering a potentially damaging defeat to Getafe in their last game. That shock defeat at home leaves them four points behind Barcelona and anything less than a win against Celta Vigo could see the dreams of winning LaLiga this season going up in smoke. The Spanish giants have been inconsistent recently, winning three and losing two of their last five league games, which contrast with their early season dominance. Having suffered another shock 2-1 away to Osasuna, and then the infamous 1-0 home defeat to Getafe, means Real Madrid have remarkably lost consecutive LaLiga matches for the first time since May 2019, and anything other than a win today will see them setting another unwanted winless run record in LaLiga, and their title chances all but over. With that said, Real Madrid will face a stern test and should be concerned against today’s opponents. In fact, they were ambushed and battered 2-0 when they hosted Celta Vigo on December 7, in their most recent meeting.

Key Stats

• Celta Vigo won the previous four matches in all competitions and scored in the last eight home matches.

• Real Madrid has lost consecutive La Liga matches for the first time since way back in May 2019, (Osasuna 2-1, and Getafe 0-1). Amazingly, Real Madrid has just one clean sheet away to Celta Vigo which came way back in May 2014.

• Both sides–When both teams met earlier this season on December 7, Celta Vigo collected a famous 2-0 away win at the Bernabeu.

The betting tip: Draw.
