Waterhouse continue resurgence with 1-0 win over MBU in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Waterhouse FC continued their resurgence in the Jamaica Premier League after clipping leaders Montego Bay United 1-0 in their second round game played at Drewsland on Monday, despite playing a man short from early in the second half.
It was the second time this season Waterhouse FC were beating MBU after edging them at Jarrett Park in late December, and will host them again on Sunday as the third round gets underway.
A 37th minute penalty conversion from Neron Barrow gave Waterhouse FC the win as they improved their unbeaten run to eight games and overtook defending champions Cavalier SC for fifth place on 40 points.
Waterhouse FC were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Kvist Paul was sent off.
It was a third straight game without a win for MBU who saw their 11-game unbeaten run end, but they are still ahead with 51 points, three more than Racing United who were 3-0 winners over Harbour View earlier at the Harbour View stadium.
Earlier in the day, Racing United rebounded from their loss to Cavalier SC with a big win over Harbour View in a game that saw three red cards being issued.
Giovanni Cunningham gave Racing United the lead in the 28th minute before Tajay Grant scored a second in the 53rd minute.
