Manchester High, Herbert Morrison to face off in ISSA rural U-16 basketball final
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The International Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Rural Area boys Under-16 basketball title will be decided on Tuesday when defending champions Manchester High meet Herbert Morrison Technical in game three of their best-of-three final at Manchester High, set to tip off at 1:00 pm.
Manchester High extended the series after winning Friday’s game two 56-45 at home after Herbert Morrison had won the first game 57-36 in Montego Bay.
Jayquan Palmer scored a double-double, 17 points and 22 rebounds, and also had six steals for Manchester High, who led 15-8 after the first quarter, 28-19 at halftime and 39-29 going into the final quarter.
Wasim Windett scored a game-high 21 points and had five steals for Manchester High while Shamar Russell scored 11 points and Tyler Linton scored 10 points for Herbert Morrison Technical.
In the first game, Herbert Morrison Technical had come from behind in a game where both teams started slowly.
Manchester High led 8-5 at the end of the first quarter but outscored Manchester High 52-28 over the next three quarters to take the lead in the series.
Linton led Herbert Morrison with 15 points and Antonio Kerr scored 13 points, while Palmer scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds.
