Sakka Club, Humble Lion retake lead in JFF Championships
Sakka Club Brown’s Town and Humble Lion FC reclaimed the lead in their respective zones in the Jamaica Football Federation Championships after wins over Meadforest FC and Petersfield FC, respectively, on Saturday.
Sakka Club Brown’s Town beat Meadforest FC 2-1 in the first game of a double-header at Drax Hall to move to 13 points in Zone A, while Humble Lion FC edged Petersfield FC 1-0 at Effortville Community Centre and also improved to 13 points in Zone B.
Brothers Kyle Marshall scored in the 31st minute and Shakur Marshall in the 43rd minute to give Sakka Club Brown’s Town a 2-0 lead at half-time before Deandre Walker pulled a goal back for Meadforest FC in the 89th minute, scoring a penalty.
Walker was, however, shown a red card a minute after the final whistle for using foul and abusive language to the referee.
Humble Lion rebounded from their loss the previous weekend to edge Petersfield FC thanks to an 84th minute goal from Tramaine Graham.
Lime Hall Academy were held to a draw for the second-straight week, playing out a 1-1 scoreline against the Jamaica Defence Force.
Javourie Mitchell gave Lime Hall the lead in the 25th minute but the soldiers salvaged a point when Mark-Mohan Myton scored an equaliser in the 90th minute.
Wifi United scored their third win, edging Baptist Alliance 2-1 and Tru-Juice beat winless Progressive 3-1.
STETHS Elite FA and Reno FC are joint third place in Zone B on 10 points each after 1-0 wins over Holland PYC and St Bess United, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kyaw-Jay McDonald scored the winner for STETHS Elite in the 32nd minute as they picked up back to back wins.
Kristoff Andre Murray scored for Reno FC in the 15th minute.
Falmouth United picked up where they left off last weekend, blanking Duncan’s United 2-0 in their Trelawny derby at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium with Phelan Christie and Kayvon Donaldson scoring the goals.
