Storm blows in: Adrian Prince saddles fifth win of 2026
TRAINER Adrian Prince continued his good form for the 2026 racing season when he saddled his fifth winner for the year with 11-year-old bay gelding Storm on Saturday, March 7.
The race was a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($700,000-$600,000) spread that included native-bred five-year-olds and imported six-year-olds and upward (non-winners of four), along with imported five-year-olds (non-winners of three) over 7½ furlongs (1,100m).
Storm, ridden by two-time defending champion jockey Raddesh Roman, easily won the contest by 2¼ lengths, beating The Soul Warrior (Tajay Suckoo) and Tigeramedat (Demar Williams). The final time was recorded at 1:37.1 (24.1 x 47.4 x 1:15.1 x 1:29.4).
Storm broke off well at the start of the race and settled into second position behind Uncle Peck (Dane Dawkins) leaving the intersection at the seven-furlong (1,400m) marker. Storm maintained his steady gallop well down the backstretch until approaching the half-mile (800m), when Roman sent him through to pick up the running.
The far-striding Storm then began to increase his lead navigating the final turn but was quickly challenged by The Soul Warrior shortly after turning for home for the last two furlongs (400m) of the race. Showing his true grit and determination that won him 16 career races from 61 starts however,
Storm found extra and edged away for the win.
Storm is bred by Natural Selection out of the Alisios mare All for Pleasure.
