Mojo Morgan’s Spirit official song of Kingston City Run
Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) has officially signed Grammy Award-winning artiste Mojo Morgan of Morgan Heritage as the first-ever musical ambassador for Kingston City Run (KCR) 2026.
The JHTA announced Morgan’s selection during a signing ceremony held at Courtleigh Hotel & Suites in New Kingston marked by the exclusive reveal of a specially produced trailer for his new single S
pirit.
The song has been named the official anthem of the 2026 event being staged under the theme ‘Pirates Run Di City’ on March 15, 2026.
Morgan’s signing and the unveiling of Spirit form part of KCR’s broader brand expansion strategy, integrating music, health advocacy, tourism, and philanthropy while reinforcing the race’s long-standing mission of social impact.
“Kingston City Run has always been about more than athletic performance — it is about community transformation,” a JHTA release quoted President Christopher Jarrett.
“The signing of Mojo Morgan and the exclusive unveiling of Spirit elevate the platform in a way that authentically blends culture, health, and social responsibility. This partnership strengthens our ability to reach new audiences while remaining firmly anchored in our mission to support Jamaica’s most vulnerable,” added Jarrett, who described the collaboration as a strategic and cultural milestone for the event.
Morgan agreed, describing the partnership as a natural extension of his artistic and humanitarian mission.
“This is about spirit in every sense — spiritual strength, physical health, community resilience,” he said.
A spiritually grounded and emotionally resonant track, Spirit reflects themes of perseverance and renewal — aligning directly with Kingston’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable and homeless populations, including those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Morgan shared that the song samples Hillsong United’s Oceans, a piece that inspired hope globally during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His ambassadorial role complements his expanding international exposure, including the upcoming ‘King in the Royals’ world tour — a groundbreaking dual-band production featuring Morgan Heritage and Beenie Man performing simultaneously with stadium-level production. The tour is scheduled to launch August 1 in the UK and aims to unify reggae and dancehall audiences globally.
The vision, according to Morgan, is to elevate reggae and dancehall touring to a consistent global platform reminiscent of the scale once achieved by Reggae Sunsplash — restoring the genre’s international touring circuit while expanding opportunities for fellow artistes.
Kingston City Run remains rooted in community upliftment. Since 2013, the event has raised more than $21 million, supporting organisations that provide care, dignity, and opportunity to Jamaica’s most vulnerable.
For 2026, organisers are targeting an additional $5 million, benefiting Marie Atkins Night Shelter (operated by the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation); Open Arms Development Centre; Alpha Institute; Missionaries of the Poor and Food For The Poor, under which additional assistance will be directed to western parishes impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
