Parkmere Group Investment supports ongoing hurricane relief in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — When Hurricane Melissa struck the island last October, Tastia Stephens, Account Manager for Parkmere Group Investment was in Montego Bay, where she experienced the hurricane’s devastation first-hand.
“Hurricane Melissa is something I will never forget. For the first time, I feared for my safety, the sound of the wind still echoes in my mind,” she said in a press release on Wednesday .
“Water came through the roofs and windows, and I prayed for protection. But when the storm passed, I realised many others suffered even more. Some lost their homes, their belongings, and faced devastating floods. Seeing the destruction brought me to tears,” she said.
Stephens noted that the experience reminded her that the things we often worry about don’t matter compared to life, safety, and the strength to rebuild.
“It taught me gratitude and compassion for those who endured the worst,” said Stephens.
Stephens decided that the devastation was too much, hence she sought assistance from her company, a move she hoped would impact lives.
“My team saw the fear and emotion I carried as I faced Hurricane Melissa. They saw the challenges I faced by choosing to stay and ride the waves. But instead of standing still, we came together. We wanted to help. We wanted to make a change. Out of the storm came strength, unity, and a commitment to support those who lost so much,” Stephens shared.
In response, Parkmere partnered with Nazarene Disaster Relief to donate to Kiwanis Rose Hall Montego, a respected humanitarian organisation, to deliver critical supplies including canned food, personal items, clothing, bedding, tarpaulins, tents, and adult and baby diapers.
These contributions were part of a continued effort to support individuals and families affected by the storm.
“This disaster touched us personally,” the company shared “We saw the devastation with our own eyes, and we knew we had to act. Extending a hand when it’s needed the most is not just a slogan, it’s our responsibility.”
Representatives say Parkmere’s dual commitment to financial empowerment and humanitarian outreach underscores its belief that investment should be measured not only in dollars but in impact. By helping investors access the equity they need for growth while also standing beside communities in crisis, the company demonstrates a rare blend of professionalism and compassion.
As recovery efforts continue in Jamaica, Parkmere Group Investment and its relationship remain dedicated to providing ongoing support.
Whether through innovative loan programmes or disaster relief initiatives, the institution is proving that true investment is about more than property, it is about people, resilience, and hope.
