Rehabilitative works to commence along Winston Jones Highway in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Motorists using the Winston Jones Highway in Manchester are being advised to prepare for traffic delays while using the corridor this week.
This is as a result of works that will commence on Thursday, March 12, 2026 on the section of the road between Hanbury and Russell Place Meadows.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Work Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says the targeted section of the road will be repaved. He says that the repair works will be done on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
However, Shaw said traffic will be curtailed along the road on Thursday when work crews will be removing the old asphaltic concrete surface. The road will be therefore reduced to single lane traffic during the asphalt removing process as well as the repaving of the surface.
The section of the Winston Jones Highway is being rehabilitated under the Graded Overlay (GO) Road Rehabilitation Programme at a cost of $90 million.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution while traveling along the affected corridor and to obey the instructions of flagmen and posted warning signs.
