Several upgrades underway for a section of Spanish Town Road
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) says that the section of Spanish Town Road in St Andrew between the examination depot and Cockburn Avenue is to be improved under the Graded Overlay (GO) Road Rehabilitation Programme.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, explained that the asphaltic concrete surface was old and had deteriorated resulting in numerous potholes developing especially after heavy rainfall.
The project commenced on Monday, March 9, 2026 and is scheduled to be completed within seven days. Under this project the old asphaltic concrete surface will be removed and is being replaced.
Shaw said Spanish Town Road is included in a package of roads being rehabilitated under the GO Programme. Other projects included in the Spanish Town Road Package of works are Olympic Way, Seaward Drive and the road section between Waltham Park Road and Molynes Road. The works are valued at $79,000,000.
Motorists are being reminded to exercise caution while traveling along the affected corridor and to obey the instructions of flagmen and posted warning signs.
