CIBC Caribbean crowns final Sweeten the Season winners
The maxim that out of misfortune can come some good held true for Latricia Gordon, one of two final winners of CIBC Caribbean’s Sweeten the Season 2025 Christmas promotion.
Gordon had lost her motor vehicle during Hurricane Melissa after parking it at her workplace before travelling overseas. Securing a new car loan made her automatically eligible for the promotion — and ultimately led to her selection as the grand prize recipient.
“After losing my vehicle, this win feels like a blessing and a fresh start. I’m truly grateful,” a release from CIBC quoted Gordon.
She was one of two customers who walked away with significant cash prizes after taking important steps toward their financial goals.
The other was Shana-Kaye Taylor, who had been previously announced.
The promotion automatically entered clients who applied for a mortgage, vehicle loan, or land loan for a chance to win one of three cash prizes.
Gordon, who banks in St Ann, received $810,000. She explained that her decision to take a vehicle loan with CIBC Caribbean was driven by loyalty and confidence in the bank’s support.
“I’ve always believed in staying loyal to my banker and to CIBC Caribbean Jamaica because I trust the support they provide. Winning is a wonderful surprise on top of the excellent service I’ve received,” she said.
Taylor, who received $567,000, viewed the prize as special as it came just one day after she celebrated her birthday. She thanked God for the timely reward and shared her gratitude for the experience.
“Winning the day after my birthday makes it even more special. This truly came at the perfect time for my family,” she was quoted.
Celebrating alongside her husband Marvin, they reflected on their decision to secure financing with CIBC Caribbean.
Commenting on the impact of the campaign, Owen Francis, director of personal and business banking at CIBC Caribbean, said the promotion was designed to support customers as they take meaningful financial steps.
“Sweeten the Season reflects our commitment to supporting clients as they make important financial decisions, whether purchasing a home, land, or a vehicle. Through this promotion, we were able to offer competitive financing solutions while creating an added opportunity for clients to benefit. Seeing the joy these winnings bring reinforces why we do what we do,” he said.
The Sweeten the Season initiative formed part of CIBC Caribbean’s year-end client appreciation strategy, aimed at strengthening relationships while empowering customers across Jamaica to move forward with confidence.
