Jaecoo completes model line-up with J7
Omoda | Jaecoo welcomed the Jaecoo J7 on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at their Oxford Road showroom.
The compact sport utility vehicle completes its introductory models to the island as the vehicle was not yet available at the brand’s launch on February 7.
“Unfortunately, for our brand launch we didn’t have the J7 models, and we felt like it’s a very important part of the model line-up for the brand. So we wanted to definitely showcase it on a similar scale just to show the versatility of the brand, the pricing, and the features each trim level with the J7 line-up offers,” Courtney Smith, sales manager, Omoda | Jaecoo, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
At a starting price of $6 million, the J7 is available in three trims and drivetrain configurations. Buyers can choose from Comfort, Luxury, or Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). Comfort and PHEV are front-wheel drive, while the Luxury trim is all-wheel drive.
Comfort and Luxury use a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, whereas the PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor powered by an 18.3kWh battery. The 1.6-litre engine is rated at 186bhp and is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The PHEV is rated at 342bhp and is said to deliver 1,200 kilometres of range, 90 of which can be had on pure electric power. It comes with a home charger and can accept DC fast charging via CCS2 port at 40kWh for a 20-minute charging time. Otherwise, recharging is done intelligently while driving the J7.
Jaecoo’s philosophy is tech-forward design, and the J7 comes standard with a significant list of features to compete in a very difficult segment. The first thing to stand out on the J7 is the large vertically cascading chrome bars that form what Jaecoo calls their Waterfall Grille.
Another key design element is the retractable door handles that sit flush with the body and extend electronically when the vehicle is opened. All models have LED lighting all around. Leather is standard across all trims, as is Jaecoo’s suite of driver and safety assist systems.
Infotainment ranges from a 13.2-inch to a 14.8-inch portrait touchscreen, and up to eight speaker Sony sound system supplemented by the 10.25-inch instrument display.
Premium amenities include ambient lighting, head-up display, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch wheels, to name a few.
“Based on the size and the design of the J7, we know that the J7 will do well,” added Smith.
