Boys Club can cut into lead in St James Sandals Major League
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Montego Bay Boys Club can cut the lead in Zone B of the St James Football Association/Sandals International Resorts Major League to one point with a win over Cambridge United when they meet at the UDC Field Saturday, starting at 3:30pm.
Montego Bay Boys Club, who are coming off a 4-1 win over Lilliput Rovers last weekend, to end a two-game losing skid, are on six points, four behind leaders Heights FC who play on Sunday in the second game of a double header at Jarrett Park.
Also on Saturday, Granville United and Wadada FC, both yet to win a game, will meet at Sam Sharpe Teachers College.
Montego Bay Boys Club, who ruled the roost in St James football up to the early 1970s, are expected to beat a Cambridge United team that have won just one of their three games played and have allowed seven goals, to sit at the foot of the points table. Junior Morgan and Matthew Thorpe have accounted for four of MoBay Boys Club’s seven goals and will be on the hunt for more Saturday.
On Sunday, Heights FC are expected to retake their place at the top of the Zone B points standing when they take on MoBay City FC at Jarrett Park after Bogue FC and Lilliput Rover meet in the first game.
Heights FC have cruised so far with three wins and a draw, scoring 10 goals and conceding just a single goal with Javar Maxwell leading the way with six goals scored so far.
MoBay have not won in their last two outings, losing to Bogue FC on Monday, and need a win Saturday if they are to challenge for top spots in the group.
On Monday, Faulkland FC will be going after a fifth straight win when they take on MBU Youths at Jarrett Park while Reggae Youths will face Real MoBay AFC at the UDC Field.
