Dejanea Oakley wins NCAA indoors 400m title
Jamaican quarter-miler Dejanea Oakley of the University of Georgia ran a national indoor record to win the 400m final at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas on Saturday.
Oakley crossed the line first in 50:47 seconds to capture the title, with Madison Whyte of USC second in a personal best 50.68 seconds and LSU’s Ella Onojuvwevwo third in 50.76 seconds.
Her teammate and compatriot, Shaquena Foote, missed out on the podium in fifth with 51.13 seconds, which puts her into the top-five all-time for Jamaica in the 400m indoors.
