Partnership sparks empowerment for teen moms
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Crisis Support Charity Team, in partnership with the Jubilee Hospital Teen Mom Programme Clinic, continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young mothers by providing critical nutrition support, counselling, and motivational guidance.
At a recent session, teen mothers received encouragement and practical advice from several dedicated professionals and community leaders who shared their expertise and personal inspiration.
Corporal Shauna Lowe from the Half-Way-Tree Police Station delivered an uplifting message to the young women, reminding them that they are strong, capable, and divine. She encouraged the mothers to believe in themselves and to pursue their goals despite the challenges they may face.
Sandra Reid from HEART/NTA spoke about opportunities available through HEART programmes, explaining how the young mothers can reintegrate into training and education while learning skills that could help them start small businesses and build independent futures.

The session also featured speech and development specialist Deonne Thwaites, who educated the mothers on early childhood development. She explained how to recognise signs of autism and other developmental concerns in children, helping the young mothers understand what to watch for as their babies grow.
Representatives from the Crisis Support Charity team emphasised that ongoing support is essential for helping teen mothers successfully reintegrate into school and society. By providing information, counselling, and nutritional assistance, the program aims to equip these young women with the knowledge and confidence needed to care for their children and pursue their dreams.
Organisers reminded the mothers that the journey of parenting can include both good days and challenging moments. However, with the right support systems in place, these challenges can be overcome.
Luke Josephs, co-founder of the Crisis Support Charity, reaffirmed its commitment to standing with teen mothers during these difficult but winnable times, ensuring that they receive the support, education, and encouragement needed to build brighter futures for themselves and their children. We also welcome other corporate bodies to come on board in helping teen mothers.
