All-Jamaica Junior Squash Championships starts today
JAMAICA Squash says everything is in place for the start of the 46th All Jamaica Junior and Senior Squash Championships at its home venue, Liguanea Club, on Sunday.
The two-day junior section will begin at 9:00 am with three matches played simultaneously on courts two, three and four. The juniors will compete in the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 age groups.
The first matches will see Jayden Emery taking on Christian Bell (Under-15), Davendra Stoddart vs Ethan Cheiran (Under-15) and Rihana Stoddart against Marley Price (Under-17).
Defending champions in the junior male and female categories will return to face challengers and attempt to retain their titles. Ethan Miller and Mehar Trehan won the titles last year.
Challengers include Ethan Williams and Judah Tavares-Finson against Miller, while Trehan’s challengers include Priya Stoddart and Elle Wilson.
Players have been preparing for the competition, with some competing in the KPMG Squash League which started in February. The league has paused for the All-Jamaica Squash Championships, which brings together Jamaican players based locally and overseas.
The senior competition will begin on Tuesday, with the finals scheduled for next Saturday. The Masters will begin on March 25. All matches will be played at Liguanea Club in New Kingston.
