BVI’s Hodge returns to competition after serving doping ban
British Virgin Islands sprinter Adaejah Hodge served a two-year doping ban beginning August 30, 2024, with seven months of the sanction suspended, making her eligible to return on January 28, 2026, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Monday.
Hodge had been banned from competing due to the presence of the prohibited substances GW501516 sulfone and GW501516 sulfoxide. The AIU said it was determined that the athlete’s ingestion was unintentional.
As a result, all her results since August 28 and the time of her suspension has been disqualified, including her 2024 World Junior Championship gold and silver medals in the 200m and 100m respectively.
A University of Georgia freshman, Hodge won gold in the 200 and silver in the 60m at the NCAA Indoor Championships over the weekend.
