Mediation fails in St James home invasion case
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A bid to settle a St James home invasion case out of court hit a dead end last Wednesday, leaving Daniel Farquharson to face the full force of the law.
Farquharson, accused of breaking into a woman’s bedroom and stealing cash and groceries, appeared before Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton at the St James Parish Court.
Represented by attorney Tamika Spencer-Anderson, Farquharson’s matter is now slated for case management on March 25.
The break-in allegedly occurred shortly before 5:30 am on December 28, 2025. The complainant, while on her verandah, reportedly heard her bedroom door slam. Peering inside, she claims to have seen a man using a cellphone flashlight to search through her belongings. She identified the intruder as Farquharson. When she called out, he allegedly jumped through a window and fled with an accomplice.
Items reportedly stolen included $8,000 in cash and a red shopping bag containing Supligen, Ensure, and chocolates.
Authorities were called again two days later, after the complainant heard suspicious noises at her window. Drawing on her prior identification, police arrested Farquharson in connection with the December 28 incident.
