Mount Pleasant to field full squad in Concacaf clash with Galaxy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Following a challenging first leg in Los Angeles (LA) where 10 key players were sidelined due to unprecedented visa denials, Mount Pleasant Football Academy (MPFA) owner Peter Gould has issued a formal call for national and regional solidarity.
In a release from the academy, Gould shared, “While we are deeply disappointed that nearly a third of our squad was prevented from competing on the field in California, we are not defeated.”
“Mount Pleasant was built on the spirit of community and the belief that Caribbean talent belongs on the global stage. What happened in LA was a setback, but Thursday in Kingston is our opportunity to show the world our true strength,” he said.
Mount Pleasant will clash with LA Galaxy in the return leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round-of-16 on Thursday. The match will kick off at 6:00 pm.
The club confirmed that its full roster, including the 10 internationals previously denied United States (US) entry, will be available for the match at the National Stadium.
“This is no longer just a football match; it is a testament to our resilience,” Gould continued. “We invite every Jamaican and every football fan in the region to join us on Thursday. Let us make the National Stadium a sea of blue and white, and let our voices be the wind behind the 11 men on that pitch.”
