She’s That Girl blows away the competition in Caymanas feature
IN another super-sprinting display the Steven Todd-conditioned She’s That Girl easily brushed aside the competition to win the $1.25-million Trevor “Slicer” Simpson OD Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park on Sunday.
Ridden by in form apprentice jockey Tajay Suckoo, She’s That Girl made one get up to win the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward by 11 1/2 lengths. She clocked a zippy 59.4 seconds (23.2 x 46.3) for the five-furlong (1,000m) round event.
Teflon Don (Robert Halledeen), who chased She’s That Girl from the start of the contest, couldn’t get on terms with the speedster and had to settle for second place — a neck in front of stablemate
Miniature Man which was ridden by Abigail Able.
She’s That Girl, a five-year-old chestnut mare bred by Sensational Slam out of the Traditional mare Palace Gold, was winning her second-consecutive race from three starts this season. It was also her sixth career win from 11 starts with lifetime earnings of over $4.3 million in stakes.
Trainer Jason DaCosta and apprentice rider Shaheem Gordon both won two races each on the 10-race card.
DaCosta saddled Starraura, with Gordon in the irons, in the third race; and Miss MoneyPenny, ridden by Robert Halledeen, in the seventh event.
Aside from Starruara, Gordon’s other winner was Skyrizi in the opening event for trainer Donovan Plummer.
Racing is to continue on Saturday
