Two charged in fatal stabbing of St Thomas farmer
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — Two men have been charged with murder following the stabbing death of a farmer during an altercation at a bar in St Thomas on February 18.
Dead is 41-year-old Eaton Whittle of Fort Leith Hall district in the parish.
Charged are 45-year-old Dwayne Capleton, otherwise called “Tall Man” and 41-year-old Oneil Stewart, both of the same community.
Reports are that about 1:35 am, the men were among patrons at a bar when an argument developed. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation during which Capleton reportedly used a knife to stab Whittle in the chest. Both men then fled the scene on foot.
Whittle was taken to the hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment.
The incident was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched. Both men were subsequently arrested during a targeted police operation and were later charged following an identification parade.
They are scheduled to appear before the court on Tuesday, March 24.
