High hopes for Montego Bae rhythm
The Montego Bae rhythm by Unit X Productions continues to make rounds in the local music scene with Nigy Boy adding his vocals.
The track, titled Forgive Me, is set for release in May.
There will also be an accompanying music video.
Other artistes who have been featured so far include Devin Di Dakta (Rub A Dub), Gail (Metazen), Neeka Raine (Joy In My Life), and Chico (Butterflies).
“Butterflies by Chico is a standout lovers rock track that complements the mellow groove of the rhythm. The rhythm is a smooth, melodic reggae production with a relaxed groove and lovers’ rock influences that allow each artiste’s vocal style to shine,” co- producer and engineer Phillip A Lindsay told the
Jamaica Observer.
Craig A Watson is the other co-producer and engineer.
Meanwhile, Lindsay noted that the crop of artistes came through various means.
“Outside of the two females that are in the camp, Chico is a friend, and when he heard the beat he loved it. For Devin, he also heard the beat through a friend and loved it as well. Other mainstrean artistes have heard it and advised that when they are ready,” he said.
The producer said that he and his business partner look to continue making authentic reggae music as they segue into dancehall. With the label being just under one year old there are already ambitious plans in the pipeline.
“Our hope is for the rhythm to reach audiences both locally and internationally, while showcasing the richness and authenticity of Jamaican music. This year we aim to expand the Unit X Productions catalogue, release more quality music, and collaborate with talented Jamaican artistes such as Nigy Boy, Romain Virgo, Chris Martin, Tanya Stephens, Agent Sasco, Protoje, and Lila Iké, among others, to help grow the Jamaican sound globally,” he said.
