Jah Rain releases ‘Rivers of Freedom’ EP
Reggae artiste Jah Rain has sights sets on another successful EP following the release of his latest, Rivers of Freedom, on March 11. It was produced by Iyah Vybz Muzik in collaboration with Kutral Dub.
The five-track project was coined with hopes to highlight the harsh realities of the world.
“The inspiration came from observing the world and the struggles people are facing social injustice, inequality, and the search for spiritual freedom. I wanted to create something that reflects the original purpose of roots reggae: music that uplifts, educates, and awakens the people. The concept of Rivers of Freedom represents the journey toward liberation mentally, spiritually, and socially,” Jah Rain, whose given name is Umar Plummer told Observer Online.
While the body of work addresses tough themes, Jah Rain hopes that it will offer encouragement to listeners, as they strive to eradicate social issues.
“My hope is that Rivers of Freedom will reach people around the world and remind them of the true power of reggae music. I want listeners to feel uplifted, motivated, and connected to a higher vibration. If even one person finds strength, clarity, or healing through these songs, then the mission of the project is already fulfilled,” he said.
The entertainer previously released EPs Guidance & Protection and Rise Again, both of which also carried the message of upliftment.
Jah Rain anticipates teaming up with other acts who share his musical values and morals.
“I would love to collaborate with artistes who carry a strong roots and cultural message artistes who respect the foundation of reggae. Working with musicians from Africa and the diaspora is also important to me because reggae is deeply connected to African identity and heritage. These collaborations help unite cultures through music and message,” he said.
Meanwhile, the rest of the year will be spent expanding his catalogue as well as his name, worldwide.
“My goals are to continue expanding Jah Rain as a global roots reggae voice touring internationally, especially across Africa and the diaspora, releasing impactful projects, and using music to uplift communities. I also want to keep mentoring young artistes and building platforms that promote conscious reggae and positive cultural expression,” Jah Rain continued.
