IEG launches electric vehicle line in push to diversify revenue
INNOVATIVE Energy Group Limited (IEG) has entered Jamaica’s electric mobility market with the launch of a new line of electric utility vehicles as the company moves to expand its revenue streams beyond its core renewable energy business.
The publicly listed company introduced its “e-nnovation” electric vehicle line over the weekend at the Corporate Golf Challenge held at Caymanas Golf Club, where the vehicles were used across the course by participants and corporate guests.
The launch follows an earlier showcase at the Red Blazer Charity Golf Classic, as IEG steps up efforts to build out a broader clean energy platform.
The move comes months after the company signalled to shareholders its intention to diversify its business and explore complementary markets aligned with its renewable energy operations.
IEG Chairman Nigel Davy said the new product line reflects the company’s strategy to expand into adjacent sectors.
“Earlier this year, we shared with shareholders that IEG would begin exploring complementary markets that align naturally with our renewable energy expertise,” Davy said. “The launch of our e-nnovation electric vehicles shows we are executing on that promise.”
The vehicles, which include two-seater and six-seater models, are targeted at golf courses, hotels, industrial facilities and gated communities, where demand for low-emission transport solutions is growing.
IEG said the units are designed to integrate with its existing solar and battery storage systems, allowing customers to pair electric mobility with renewable energy charging infrastructure.
President and CEO Dr Conrad Miller described the expansion as a natural extension of the company’s core business.
“Electric mobility is a natural extension of our solar and battery technologies,” Miller said. “By integrating vehicles with renewable energy infrastructure we are expanding the value we can deliver to customers while opening new opportunities for growth.”
The company views electric mobility as a key growth area, citing rising demand across hospitality, commercial and residential sectors in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
The initiative forms part of a broader push to build a more diversified business model with multiple revenue streams as the energy sector continues to evolve.
IEG, which specialises in solar energy systems and battery storage solutions, said it will continue to focus on expanding its clean technology offerings while positioning itself to capture opportunities in the transition to renewable energy.
