Lime Hall and Roaring River lose unbeaten records in JFF Championships
LLANDILO, Westmoreland — Lime Hall Academy and Roaring River FC lost their unbeaten records in the JFF Championships after going down to Tru-Juice Academy and Humble Lion FC in their respective games played over the weekend.
Tru-Juice edged Lime Hall Academy 1-0 in their Zone A game while Humble Lion FC beat Roaring River 3-1 via a brace from Denzil Watson in time added, while ending the game with just eight players after three were shown red cards.
Meanwhile, Falmouth United won a third-straight game, while Progressive United and Duncans United scored their first wins of the season.
At Llandilo Community Centre on Sunday, Referee Shemar Campbell had a busy afternoon, issuing four red cards before the first goal was scored.
Roaring River FC’s Dushanie Ewen and Humble Lion’s Douglas Whitely were sent off in the ninth minute, both for violent conduct.
The Humble Lion team was further reduced to eight players after Shawn Campbell and Nevar Brooks were dismissed for using “foul and abusive language” towards the referee.
Despite their lack of numbers on the field Humble Lion took the lead when Aaron Weir scored in the 58th minute, but Jashane Foster equalised for Roaring River in the 62nd.
Watson, who came on as a substitute in the 65th minute, replacing Tramaine Graham, then scored a minute into time added to restore Humble Lion FC’s lead, adding a second seven minutes later.
Tru-Juice FC took over second place in Zone A with 14 points after beating Lime Hall Academy 1-0 at Dinthill, trailing Sakka Club Brown’s Town who edged Gray’s Inn 1-0 in St Mary.
Matthew Wilson scored the only goal in the game between Falmouth United and Reno FC as they continued their climb up the tables to 10 points.
Falmouth United have not allowed a goal in their three-game winning run after conceding eight goals in their first four outings.
Sheldon Ragbeer scored a hat-trick for the Jamaica Defence Force in their 6-0 thrashing of Baptiste Alliance, scoring in the 22nd, 63rd and 66th minutes. Tevin Cheese scored his sixth goal of the season to open the scoring in the fourth minute, Michael Allen scored in time added at the end of the first half, and Rupert Patience scored in the 86th minute after replacing Cheese in the 77th minute.
In other games, Progressive FC got their first win after beating Meadforest FC 2-0 while Duncans United surprised STETHS Elite 3-1 in Santa Cruz to get their first victory.
