Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange shares a moment with creator of the underwater cultural heritage mural Sunken Secrets on East Street in downtown Kingston, Keddan Savage, during the artwork’s official unveiling on Friday. Joining them are regional director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Cluster Office for the Caribbean Eric Falt (right); and youngsters Joshaun English (centre) and Shawnalee Smith. The mural highlights Jamaica’s rich underwater cultural heritage, extending beyond shipwrecks, lost treasure, and the submerged sections of Port Royal following the 1692 earthquake to also encompass places of memory linked to the nation’s history beneath the sea.
