KINGSTON, Jamaica — Four drivers employed by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) have been arrested and charged in relation to a ticket scam in which the drivers allegedly pocketed cash collected from passengers without issuing tickets.

The accused have been identified as 47-year-old Keith Reid, otherwise called “Miguel” of Llandewey, St Thomas; 50-year-old Coleen Reynolds of Cumberland, Portmore, St Catherine; 43-year-old Lashon Young of Waterford, Portmore, St Catherine; and 27-year-old Jahvon Hassock of Eltham Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Describing the arrests as a “crackdown on organised criminal activity”, the police said the drivers were apprehended for offences of embezzlement and failing to issue tickets to passengers.

It is reported that between February and March 2026, the accused—while performing their duties as bus drivers—collected bus fares from passengers on behalf of the company. However, they reportedly failed to issue electronic receipts to account for the transactions.

Investigations revealed that upon completion of their shifts, the drivers did not hand over the collected funds to the JUTC.

A report was made to the police, which led to their arrest.

They are to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, April 21.

The police said investigators are still probing the matter to identify others involved.
