Jamaica College seek ISSA Junior double against Garvey Maceo, Cornwall
Jamaica College will be chasing the ISSA All-Island Under 14-16 double when they take on Garvey Maceo High and Cornwall College, respectively, in the finals today at home at Ashenheim Stadium.
“The Blues” won the Urban double last week, beating Kingston College in both finals, winning the Under-14 on penalties and then upsetting the pre-final favourites 2-1 in the Under-16 final.
The first game today is set to start at 2:00 pm, with the Under-16 game kicking off at 4:00 pm. Both games will go to penalties if the score is level after regulation time.
Garvey Maceo High won the Rural Under-14 title last Thursday at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex, beating William Knibb Memorial 4-2 after trailing 2-1 in the second half.
Cornwall College completed an unbeaten season in the Under-16 competition by beating Glenmuir High 4-1 in the final, thanks to a first-half double from national Under-15 striker Carlondo Morris.
Cornwall College drew once, 2-2 at Munro College, and conceded just four goals all season, beating Rusea’s High 4-1 in the semi-final and conceding in time added in the final against Glenmuir High.
Mekhi Foster, who was a member of the ISSA All-daCosta Cup team with Morris, has been consistent late in the season and has scored in their last five games, with Jarred Sergeant getting on the scoresheet in both the semi-finals and the final.
