JWPL set for record-breaking weekend of live streaming
The Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) is poised for a historic weekend as it delivers a record-breaking slate of live-streamed matches, further strengthening the visibility and commercial appeal of women’s football in Jamaica.
For the first time this season, fans will enjoy two double-headers broadcast live from two venues, Carder Park in Portland and Excelsior High School Field in Kingston, underscoring the league’s continued growth and rising demand.
At Carder Park, the action kicks off at 1:00 pm with Proven Girls SC vs Cavalier SC, followed by Wifi United SC vs Arnett Gardens FC at 3:00 pm.
Simultaneously, at Excelsior High School Field, fans will be treated to Los Perfectos FC vs Federal United FC at 1:00 pm, before a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash in Zone B at 3:30 p.m., featuring defending champions Frazsiers Whip FC against Springers United SC.
In addition to the streamed fixtures, two matches will also take place across the island as part of the weekend’s schedule. Real Mona FC will face UWI Women’s FC at 3:30 pm at Merl Grove High School, while Mile Gully FC will take on Real MoBay AFC at 3:30 pm at the Mile Gully Community Centre.
This milestone moment for the league is further bolstered by a significant commitment from the Government of Jamaica. Speaking at the JFF x Adidas launch held at TacBar on Wednesday evening, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia “Babsy” Grange, announced a $5.5-million contribution to support the development of the women’s game.
“As the minister responsible for gender, I must support not just men’s football, but women’s football as well. I have to put my money where my mouth is. The $5.5 million to help promote the [Women’s] Premier League is very important. Over the years, I have supported women’s football and I will continue to do so. It is important because I strongly believe in supporting women in sport.”
Chairperson of Professional Women’s Football Jamaica Limited (PWFJL) Christina Hudson welcomed the announcement and highlighted the significance of both the Government’s support and the league’s growing broadcast footprint.
“This record-breaking weekend of streamed matches reflects the growing momentum of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League. The Government’s $5.5-million investment further strengthens that momentum, providing critical support as we continue to build the league’s visibility, commercial appeal, and long-term sustainability. We are truly encouraged by this level of commitment to women’s football.”
With production support from SORA Media, the expanded broadcast schedule for this weekend reflects the league’s commitment to delivering high-quality football to audiences locally and across the diaspora.
The JWPL continues to advance along its strategic pathway toward professionalisation, with increased investment, enhanced production, and growing stakeholder support positioning the League as a key pillar in Jamaica’s sporting landscape.
