Rising star Shaheem Gordon scores four wins in two days
Shaheem Gordon, a graduate of the recent Jockeys’ Training School, is surely making his mark on the racing scene. Over two electrifying days, he secured four wins, propelling himself into the top 10 of the jockeys’ standings.
It started on Saturday, March 14, 2026, when Gordon partnered with Smoking Thom, a Christopher Pearson-trained horse, in the opening maiden event. He seized the lead from the break, expertly judging the fractions, and guided the 2-1 chance to a comfortable win.
The tone was set, and Gordon wasn’t finished. He returned in the day’s final race, aboard Proudest Vision, a 21-1 outsider trained by Carlton Cunningham. Biding his time, Gordon produced a well-timed surge, snatching victory by a length.
Sunday, March 15 showcased Gordon’s grit and competitive fire. He won his first race aboard Skyrizi, trained by Donovan Plummer, in a thrilling duel with champion jockey Raddesh Roman aboard Talons. The crowd was on the edge as Skyrizi edged past the post by a neck.
The rivalry intensified in the third race, with Gordon, on Starraura, clashing with Roman once more aboard Bob The Builder. The two jockeys locked horns, neither yielding an inch, until Gordon dug deep to secure a head-to-head win.
With six wins, Gordon now ranks ninth on the jockeys’ leader board. His star is rising, and the racing world is taking notice.
