She’s That Girl unleashes blazing speed in Simpson Trophy Triumph
In a stunning display of raw power, She’s That Girl exploded onto the scene, leaving competitors in the dust with a breathtaking 11 1/2 length victory in the $1.25-million Trevor “Slicer” Simpson OD Trophy on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The Steven Todd-trained speedster, piloted by Tajay Suckoo, electrified the crowd with a lightning-fast 59.4 seconds over five furlongs (1000m) on the round course in the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward.
From the off, She’s That Girl was never tested as she set the pace ahead of Teflon Don (Robert Halledeen), Strike Smart (Christopher Mamdeen), and Miniature Man (Abigail Able). She’s That Girl upped the tempo going into the half-mile (800m) and then sprinted clear in deep stretch for the win.
Teflon Don and Miniature Man tried to keep pace, but She’s That Girl was a runaway winner, cementing her status as a sprinting sensation. With two wins from three starts this season, she’s a force to be reckoned with in the sprinting division.
Steven Todd praised She’s That Girl’s dominant performance, saying she did exactly what was expected of her.
“She’s super fit at the moment… she didn’t have anybody to contend with on the lead, so she got it easy today. From her last race, you just took our time with her. She told us that she was a ready and so we made the choice to run her,” Todd told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Looking ahead, Todd said She’s That Girl will face tougher competition as she moves up in class, but he’s pleased with her performance.
“Now we have to analyse her day by day. She will be going up in class and so it is going to be harder for her. She has to improve as you go in class, but I am definitely pleased with her performance today,” he said.
