Speid announces Reggae Boyz squad for World Cup playoffs
The English-born trio of Ephron Mason-Clark, Tyrese Hall, and Andre Brooks have been confirmed as part of the Reggae Boyz squad for the FIFA World Cup playoffs in Mexico beginning next week.
The players were named as part of the 28-man selection at a Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) press conference on Friday.
As previously reported by the Jamaica Observer, Shamar Nicholson, Dujuan “Whisper” Richards and Kaheim Dixon are among high profile names who were left out by Reggae Boyz interim coach Rudolph Speid. Other notable exclusions are Mason Holgate, Rico Henry and Rumarn Burrell.
Mason-Clark has seven goals and seven assists so far this season, which has helped to lift Coventry to the top of the English Championship table.
Sheffield United winger Brooks and 20-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tyrese Hall, on loan at Notts County, are also having solid seasons.
In the meantime, Astin Villa winger Leon Bailey returns to the squad after an eight-month absence due to injury.
Captain Andre Blake, vice captain Damion Lowe, Bobby Reid, Demarai Gray and Ethan Pinnock are also included.
