KINGSTON, Jamaica — Authentic Jamaican products will be on display on March 29 as the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) hosts its ‘Craft with a Difference’ pop‑up market at Devon House in Kingston, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

TPDCo says the staging serves as a preview of a larger Craft with a Difference showcase planned for later this year, offering patrons a glimpse of the authentic Jamaican products, talent and cultural experiences to come.

Product Quality Manager at TPDCo’s Ocho Rios office, Kameel Bryan-Russell, shared that the event will feature nearly 20 artisans showcasing a diverse range of Jamaican‑made items, including jewellery, handbags, decorative pieces, fashion accessories, home décor, and paintings.

“We are hoping to allow our artisans to utilise this platform to showcase their work, to connect with customers, and to generate some income from it. The pop-up will also give our artisans greater visibility and open doors for future business opportunities,” Bryan-Russell said.

She added that representatives from hotels, non‑hotel attractions and other tourism stakeholders are expected to attend, further expanding opportunities for the participating artisans.

Bryan‑Russell noted that the pop‑up market is strategically scheduled ahead of the Easter holiday period to give visitors a taste of Jamaica’s rich cultural offerings.

“Craft tells the story of Jamaica’s culture, and we want visitors coming to the island to get a sneak peek of what we are offering, in terms of craft products and heritage,” she said.

“In doing so, we are supporting and sustaining the livelihood of our artisans. We are strengthening the creative economy and ensuring that the traditional skills and the artistic expression of our craft sub-sector are sustained for future generations,” Bryan‑Russell added.

The event is free to the public, inviting patrons to enjoy live entertainment, food, special discounts, and a vibrant, family‑friendly atmosphere.

“Visitors can explore beautiful handmade products, enjoy the music and take advantage of the surprises that are available. It is an awesome opportunity for us to support Jamaican creativity,” Bryan-Russell stated.
