Jamaica appeals disqualification in mixed 4x400m at world indoors
Observer Online understands that Jamaican officials have appealed the disqualification of the country’s mixed 4x400m relay team on Saturday’s second day of the World Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland.
The team of Delano Kennedy, Shana Kaye Anderson, Kimar Farquharson and Leah Anderson fought doggedly to claim what would have been Jamaica’s third medal, stopping the clock at 3:17.13.
However, track officials ruled that the anchor leg runner, Anderson, was over the start line when she took the baton.
Host country Poland were promoted to the bronze medal place after the disqualification, behind Belgium who won the gold in 3:15.60, and Spain who took the silver in 3:16.96.
