World Indoor: Lyston and Smith shut out of women’s 60m medals

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s pair of Brianna Lyston and Jonielle Smith finished out of the medals in the women’s 60m final that closed the second day of competition, at the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland.

Lyston, who advanced to the final on time, was fourth, equalling her season’s best of 7.05 seconds. Smith who had won both her previous races on the day, finished fifth in 7.06 seconds.

Italy’s Zaynab Dosso upset the field to win in 7.00 seconds flat, the same time she ran to lead the semi-final. She was followed by American Jacious Sears- 7.03 seconds and St Lucia’s Julien Alfred who also ran 7.03 seconds.
